About the Event
Event Overview
The Notorious Big had a famous line on the very first song off of his debut album Ready to Die titled “Things Done Changed.” In the third verse of the song, Big says “Either you slinging Crack Rock or you got a wicked jump Shot. Well, turned out that Biggie lied.
Just like millions of other youngsters in the hood, still to this day, Biggie fell prey to his own lie more than likely
unknowingly as he was only 24 years young when he was murdered. Black and brown youth across the country are sold that the only way to make it out of the traumatizing conditions of the hood, is by perpetuating the behaviors that caused their own trauma in the first place.
This programming has become the norm for youth and adults alike. It doesn’t matter if you are a hood refugee that made it out or still living behind enemy lines. The acceptance of this destructive lifestyle is a result of undiagnosed trauma. Our PTHD Symposiums are here to interrupt this mentality and reveal
alternative paths to purpose.
